Originally shown at the 1953 Earls Court Motor Show, then at the 1954 show, the new 541 model was delivered to customers in early 1955. It used fibreglass bodywork mounted on a steel chassis and was fitted with an Austin engine.

The Jensen 541 was both a fast and luxurious car with the well equipped interior featuring leather seats as standard.

The power unit was the same 3993cc six-cylinder that was being used on the current Interceptor model. A unique feature of the 541's styling was the front-hinged bonnet flap that could be opened or closed from a control mounted under the dash. Including prototypes, 173 standard 541s were built.

The unique distinction of being the first British company to market a production saloon fitted with disc brakes to all four wheels has been achieved by Jensen Motors Ltd with the introduction of a Deluxe version of the Jensen 541. it is equipped with the latest version of Dunlop disc brakes. 53 Deluxe models were built.

541-R introduced in 1958 was one of the worlds fastest production cars, with a top speed of over 125 mph, easily cruising at between 90 - 100 mph. 43 cars were built with the high-performance DS-7 engine which featured just two SU carburettors to the DS-5's three. Total 541-Rs built: 193.

The final version of the 541 theme was subtantially revised and entitled, the 541-S. Fully 4inch wider, more headroom and the front flap replaced by a more conventional grille. The Austin engine was now coupled to a Rolls-Royce modified GM Hydramatic gearbox although 20 manual box cars were built. Total 541-S production: 127.
