Highly sought after, and extremely well preserved early first series example of the famous Distler Porsche 356A Electromatic 7500 FS in the rare lime green over red color combination.

Introduced at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair of 1955, this Speedster is a first generation production model with Euro style 4.5 Volt leaf contact battery, flat chassis underside and tin-plated headlights.

This German built tin-plate model car features a working steering mechanisme and is powered by a coreless motor coupled to a synchronished 3-speed gearbox with neutral, two forward- and one reverse gear.

The most impressive feature of this Porsche is the way it can be mechanicly remote controlled by adding a flexibel extension to the steering wheel and gearselector knob to control the direction and switch gears.

Due to battery leakage, most examples have been destroyed by acid. This car only has a small oxydation mark on the rear-seat as well as some very minor paint chips. The underside, battery tray and chassis are in as new condition.

This 60 year old toy model car is offered for sale as found on the attic without being cleaned. It comes with the remote controlled extension but the hood ornament, key as well as the original box went missing.

Distler Porsche's were made in Germany from 1955 till 1962 with a model update in 1956. A third series model was produced from 1962 till 1965 in Belgium and in 2004 Toy manufacturer Schuco started to reproduce limited edition copies.

The Johann Distler KG company was established in Nürnberg, Germany in 1895.

Distler started as a penny-toy manufacturer, specialized in lithographed tin toys and its range of products comprised 500 items. The most famous one was a street organ player.

After Johann Distler's death in 1923 his partners took over. In 1936 they sold the company to Ernst Völk, the chairman of the Nürnberger Chamber of Commerce. From 1938 Distler co-operated with Trix, a manufacturer of toy trains and construction sets.

The Trix company, which had Jewish owners, was transferred to the same Ernst Völk as a result of the then anti-Semitic German legislation to ban Jewish ownership of companies.

Just after the Second World War Distler started to manufacture electric toy trains and, later, electric cars as well. Distler's electric Porsche 356 model, produced since 1955, was one of the top products.

Distler's rather simple printed tin models were usually not sold in specialized toyshops, but in department stores.

In the beginning of the sixties, Distler could no longer maintain it's position against the larger and better brands like Schuco, Trix and Märklin in Germany, and for example Dinky Toys in the UK.

The production in Germany was discontinued in 1962. The company including machines and the production rights were sold to Belgium, where Distler Toys S.A. in Nivelles continued the production of the Distler brand until 1968.
