In 1980, Donkervoort present it's first new model after the Super Seven - the Donkervoort Super Eight 2.0 - longer and wider, but with the basic shape as the S7.
The wider track was accomplished by a new front suspension with inhouse developed aluminium / titanium front uprights as well as the use of the eight cm wider live axle from the Ford Capri at the rear.
The S8 has a cast-iron two liter engine with a new five speed gearbox - compared to the four speed of the S7 - and a top speed of 190 km per hour. Acceleration time was about 6 seconds from zero to 100 km/h.
Stopping power was delivered by ventilated disc brakes at the front; something only seen in motor sport during the days. The S8 was a very well developed sports car for that time and even today is a shrill to drive.
